Cell culture plays a major role in the field of research and diagnostics. This course is designed to include the basic concepts of cell culture and its techniques. After the completion of this course, the enroller will have knowledge of the theory and practical aspects of cell culture.
Introduction to cell culture
Cell culture media and propagation
Cell culture contaminant
Quality control in cell culture
The course is divided into two modules.
Module 1 comprises the theory in cell culture covering basics of cell culture, types of cell culture media, propagation of cell lines, preservation of cell lines, detection and prevention of contamination of cell lines, quality control involved in cell culture
Module 2 involves practical sessions of module 1 including subculture of cell lines, cryopreservation preservation of cell line.
The course is intended to provide basic knowledge on medical entomology both in theory and laboratory aspects. On completion of this course, it will help the learners in improving the knowledge of vector-borne diseases (VBD) and insect identification (Taxonomy).
Recent advance in molecular diagnostic tools such as real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing has made disease detection rapid, affordable, accurate and portable. The course is aimed at training laboratory personnel who are interested in garner first-hand experience in molecular diagnostics aiming to improvise the existing molecular facility in their institution or even start a molecular diagnostic facility themselves. This course will cover basic concepts and techniques, standardization of tests and quality control in molecular diagnostics. The participants will have ample opportunity for hands-on training on several molecular assays in the diagnosis of various emerging infections.
For the appropriate diagnosis of a particular pathogen, proper knowledge of the laboratory design, challenges associated in diagnosis and knowledge of different virological techniques is very much important. This course on advanced virological techniques is directed towards the laboratory personnel and professionals who work in or are planning to set up an advanced diagnostic virology laboratory.
